The Early Years
I was born on December 9, 1978 in Broken Bow, NE. My life was pretty boring all through grade school, middle school, and high school. I graduate from Broken Bow High School in 1998.

I attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney for my undergraduate degree in Computer Science. I started in the fall of 1998. While at UNK, I meet my future wife and participated in a few activities. My wife and I got married August 5, 2000. Both of us finished up at UNK in the summer of 2001.
That following August, I started at UNL for my Masters and my Doctorate of Philosophy. I finished my Masters in 2003 and my Ph.D. in 2006. Both were in Computer Science, more specifically Graph Theory. In case you are wondering, my research had to deal with putting dots on a piece of paper and connecting them in meaning and purposeful ways.
While completing my Masters and Ph.D. I had the opportunity to teach severals labs and courses at UNL. I taught the lab and course for Introduction to Computer Science several times. I taught an introductory course on C a few times and an introductory course on Fortran once.
During my last year of my Ph.D. I taught at UNK. I taught four courses for two semesters. The courses were Computers in Society, Java Programming, Computer Organization, Information Systems, and Hypertext and Multimedia.
Finally, I finished my Ph.D. and took a position here at NWU. I teach a variety of courses here.
I have one daughter that was born in 2005. She is a pistol and is rather funny.
I don't have a lot of hobbies, just watching Stargate SG-1 or Atlantis and playing disc golf. I have a personal goal of converting all my friends to Linux. Currently, I am using Ubuntu, but I have been an openSUSE user for several years. I started with Red Hat in 2000, and shortly switched to SuSE 7.0. I have tried several different versions of Linux and Unix. I have used Red Hat, SuSe, SUSE, openSUSE, Fedora, FreeBSD, Solaris, and Ubuntu. I have since converted my wife to Linux and hope to convert more throughout the years.
